Claude Elwood Shannon (April 30, 1916 – February 24, 2001) was an famous American mathematician, also an electrical engineer, and a cryptographer. He was also known as "the father of information theory".
Shannon is mostly famous for having founded information theory. He founded information therory with a landmark paper that he published in 1948.
